Spirits is the artistic and main part of Kacper Wiatrak’s graduation work. This story about the artist’s childhood is a game of associations in which mental notes are reconstructed as handcrafted mementos, painted or made from cardboard. The eight juxtaposed paintings and objects hark back to past stories and conditions, complementing each other’s meanings. Together they provide a panorama of feelings, making it possible to return to the scenes and people they evoke, ultimately creating a series about growing up, saying goodbye and searching for identity.

The second, design part of Wiatrak’s graduation work is a graphic journey through Serwis – a gallery and studio co-created by the Zbiór collective. The exhibition is a presentation of the visual language created for a place designed as a new cultural venue on the map of Wrocław.

Kacper Wiatrak (b. 1998 in Wrocław) is a visual artist and fifth-year student at the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. He usually works in painting, but he also creates objects and digital works. He treats his works as a diary – a proof of existence. It is a rather specific diary: Polish, bittersweet, self-ironic and full of contradictions. Wiatrak is a co-founder of Pracownia Serwis Gallery in the south of Wrocław and member of the Zbiór collective.

The Ping Pong World Championship
➝ 13 July2024, 4PM

How many times have you played table tennis in an art gallery? If never, then come join us for the only event of its kind in the world! Sixteen players will face off in the tournament, sweating it out for prizes and, most importantly, certificates. Can you play? Come and prove it! Can’t play? Come anyway, maybe you can! Everyone can join the tournament; it’s first come, first served.
“The Ping Pong World Championship” is organized in collaboration with Serwis, accompanying Kacper Wiatrak’s diploma exhibition. Serwis is an independent gallery and studio in the south of Wrocław, co-created by the Zbiór collective, of which the artist is a member.

1. Actually, this isn’t a world championship, just an amateur tournament. And it’s not ping-pong but table tennis, so please don’t bring paddles with sandpaper
2. Up to 16 players can join the tournament
3. Participation in the tournament is determined by the order of applications
4. If you’re one of the first 16 to sign up, we’ll let you know by email
5. If any of the 16 lucky players don’t show up, someone from the waitlist will take their spot
6. Winners get prizes
